Centered on the anterior cervical region, the anterior triangle (trigonum cervicale anterius) is bounded by the midline of the neck medially, the anterior border of the sternocleidomastoid laterally, and the inferior border of the mandible superiorly. Superior to the laryngeal framework, the hyoid bone spans transversely, and the suprahyoid muscles occupy the floor beneath the mandible while the infrahyoid strap muscles (sternohyoid, sternothyroid, thyrohyoid, and omohyoid) descend toward the manubrium and clavicle. Deep to these layers, the thyroid cartilage and cricoid cartilage sit in the midline, with the thyroid gland typically positioned anterolateral to the upper trachea and inferior to the larynx.
