Description
A fetus at 38 weeks of gestation lies in a flexed, head-down position within the translucent amniotic sac, suspended in amniotic fluid inside the uterine cavity. The vertex presents toward the lower uterine segment, the chin is tucked toward the chest, and the upper limbs are folded so that one hand rests near the face while the knees and feet are drawn up against the abdomen in the classic fetal attitude.
