Seen from a lateral perspective, the male orbital (eye socket) region is defined by the bony orbital rim, with the supraorbital margin superiorly and the lateral orbital margin formed by the zygomatic bone and frontal bone. The upper and lower eyelids (palpebrae) drape anterior to the globe, meeting medially and laterally at the canthi, while the lateral palpebral commissure lies just anterior to the lateral orbital tubercle. Medially, the lacrimal apparatus occupies the anterior orbit, with the lacrimal gland positioned superolaterally and the drainage pathway tracking toward the lacrimal sac at the medial canthus, then inferiorly into the nasolacrimal duct. Skin of the periorbital region blends posteriorly into the temple, where the lateral orbital rim transitions to the zygomatic arch. A side view of the orbit matters when you need clean relationships between eyelids, orbital rim landmarks, and the lacrimal drainage system without the visual clutter of a full facial frontal view.
