Seen in lateral profile, the external nose is organized around the nasal bones superiorly and the cartilaginous framework inferiorly, including the septal cartilage at the midline with the paired upper lateral cartilages forming the dorsum. The greater alar cartilage curves anteriorly and inferiorly to shape the ala nasi and define the margin of the naris, while the soft tissue of the nasal tip (apex) lies distal to the bony bridge. Posteriorly, the nasal root blends with the frontal region, and the columella is positioned anteroinferior to the caudal septum at the junction with the upper lip. Clear relationships.
