Description

Branching hyphae form a mycelial network set against a dark microscopic field, with sporangiophores rising erect from the substrate and terminating in spherical sporangia. Each spore sac sits at the distal end of a stalk, the sporangial wall enclosing a dense mass of sporangiospores, and a central columella is suggested where the sporangiophore expands into the sporangium. Finer rhizoids may be implied at the proximal base, anchoring the organism and defining the nodal origin of sporangiophores.
