Palmar anatomy is presented in anterior (volar) view of the male manus, centered on the triangular palmar aponeurosis that fans distally toward the bases of the digits and blends proximally with the tendon of palmaris longus when present. Superficial palmar creases traverse the skin overlying the metacarpophalangeal joints and thenar and hypothenar regions, with the thenar eminence lying lateral (radial) and the hypothenar eminence medial (ulnar) in anatomical position. Digital rays extend distally from the metacarpal heads, and the midpalmar region sits between the muscular eminences. Surface landmarks dominate. For teaching, few views clarify the relationship between skin creases and the underlying palmar fascia as cleanly as the palmar surface, where pretendinous bands tether the integument and explain why lacerations can gape and why infection spreads in predictable compartments. This is the map surgeons use when planning incisions that avoid the superficial palmar arch and common digital nerves, and when counseling patients with Dupuytren disease, where nodular thickening and cords of the palmar aponeurosis contract the ring and little fingers into flexion.
