Centered on the midface, the female buccal region is presented from an anterior, frontal perspective, outlining the surface contours of the cheek between the zygomatic arch superiorly and the inferior border of the mandible. Lateral to the oral fissure, the fullness of the cheek corresponds to the buccal fat pad deep to the buccinator, while the nasolabial fold runs obliquely from the ala of the nose toward the corner of the mouth. Superficial landmarks also imply the course of the parotid duct as it traverses the masseter, turns medially to pierce the buccinator opposite the maxillary second molar, and the distribution of facial muscles that shape the modiolus at the angle of the mouth.
