Deep within the cerebral hemispheres, the animation traces the ventricular system from the paired lateral ventricles in the supratentorial brain to the midline third ventricle of the diencephalon and the fourth ventricle between the pons, medulla, and cerebellum. It follows cerebrospinal fluid pathways through the interventricular foramina (of Monro), down the cerebral aqueduct (of Sylvius) in the midbrain, then into the fourth ventricle before reaching the median aperture (Magendie) and lateral apertures (Luschka). Orientation cues clarify anterior versus posterior horns, the inferior (temporal) horn, and the ventricular atrium where the horns meet. Landmarks stay clear. Clinically, ventricular anatomy is where neuroanatomy meets pressure physiology: ventricular enlargement in obstructive hydrocephalus, effacement with raised intracranial pressure, and midline shift around the third ventricle are read every day on CT and MRI. By moving sequentially along the connected chambers, the animation makes it easier to grasp why aqueductal stenosis preferentially dilates the lateral and third ventricles, while posterior fossa crowding can distort the fourth ventricle and outlet foramina.
