Description
Anterior cranial anatomy comes into focus as the animation tracks along the frontal part of the orbital margin of the frontal bone, the superior rim of the bony orbit forming the upper boundary of the eye socket. The supraorbital rim is shown curving mediolaterally from the region of the glabella and superciliary arches toward the lateral orbital margin, where it approaches the frontozygomatic region. As the camera advances and slightly rotates, the rim’s palpable contour is related to the orbital roof deep to it and to the anterior cranial vault superiorly. Landmarks sharpen in sequence. Clinically, this is the ridge you palpate in periorbital trauma and the margin you respect in brow and upper eyelid approaches. The animation clarifies where fractures of the supraorbital rim sit relative to the orbital roof and why displacement can threaten globe position, extraocular muscle function, and orbital volume even when the defect looks small externally. It also helps orient the supraorbital region where the supraorbital notch or foramen often transmits the supraorbital nerve and vessels, a common target for regional anesthesia and a frequent source of neuropathic forehead pain after injury or surgery.
