Seen in anatomical position, the adult male upper limbs extend from the shoulder region through the brachium (arm), antebrachium (forearm), wrist, and hand, with the humerus proximal to the radius and ulna and the carpus distal to both forearm bones. Laterally, the radius aligns with the thumb side of the hand, while the ulna tracks medially toward the little finger, a relationship that stays consistent from the cubital fossa to the ulnar styloid. At the elbow, the humeroulnar and humeroradial articulations sit proximal to the radioulnar joints that permit pronation and supination, while the metacarpophalangeal and interphalangeal joints stack distally to form the mobile digital rays. Joint congruence and segmental proportions are readable at a glance. Upper-limb gross anatomy is often taught as a series of named regions, but the functional story lives at the joints.
