Description
Centered on the male third toe (digitus pedis III), the view logically includes the distal phalanx and its terminal tuft, with the distal interphalangeal joint just proximal to it and the middle phalanx extending proximally toward the forefoot. Dorsally, the nail plate and nail bed sit over the distal phalanx, while the plantar surface is padded by the digital pulp and skin that blends proximally into the flexion crease. Medially and laterally, the toe is bordered by the second and fourth digits, with the proper digital neurovascular bundles expected to course along the plantar-medial and plantar-lateral aspects of the digit. Alignment and contour at the terminal end are emphasized.
