Rendered as an anterior view of a preadolescent female torso with the integument partially transparent, the abdominal viscera are arranged in standard anatomical position beneath the costal margin and into the pelvis. The liver occupies the right upper quadrant with its inferior margin overlying the hepatic flexure, while the stomach sits in the left upper quadrant, its greater curvature sweeping inferolaterally toward the spleen region. Centrally, jejunal and ileal loops fill the mid-abdomen, framed peripherally by the large intestine: ascending colon on the patient’s right, transverse colon crossing superiorly, descending colon on the left, then sigmoid colon turning inferomedially to the rectum in the midline pelvis. Blue underwear demarcates the pelvic level for orientation. For teaching topography, this layout makes the gut’s transitions easy to follow from foregut to hindgut, and it places key right-sided landmarks, liver, gallbladder fossa, and cecal region, in their expected relationships for bedside correlation. That matters in pediatric practice, where pain localization is often imprecise and clinicians rely on surface anatomy to prioritize appendicitis, intussusception, or constipation with rectosigmoid stool burden.
