Description

Anterior, upright female anatomy is rendered with semi-transparent integument so the thoracic and abdominopelvic viscera read through the body wall. Superiorly, the trachea descends in the midline and bifurcates into the primary bronchi within the mediastinum, with the right and left lungs occupying their pleural cavities lateral to the heart silhouette. Inferior to the diaphragm, the stomach sits in the left upper quadrant while the small intestine forms central coils, and the large intestine frames it peripherally as ascending, transverse, descending, and sigmoid segments. Over the anterior chest, lobulated mammary gland tissue is visible deep to the nipple-areolar complex. Frontal organ mapping like this helps anchor surface anatomy to what clinicians palpate and percuss. The relationship of the esophagus to the diaphragm and stomach is the setup for gastroesophageal reflux disease and hiatal hernia, and the contrast between central small bowel and peripheral colon is a fast way to teach why obstruction patterns differ on imaging and exam. Breast parenchyma placement over the pectoral region also supports discussion of lymphatic drainage to axillary nodes during breast cancer staging and mastectomy planning. Landmarks matter. Use this plate in gross anatomy and nursing anatomy courses to introduce body cavities, quadrant-based localization, and organ stacking in an anterior view, or in patient-facing education that needs respectful depiction of a Black woman while still naming the major viscera. It also fits textbook spreads on thoracoabdominal relationships and clinical correlations for reflux, bowel obstruction, and axillary node evaluation. Anatomical accuracy verified by SciePro's Medical Advisory Board.
