Seen in lateral profile, the female brachium is defined by the rounded contour of the deltoid capping the shoulder and blending distally into the lateral intermuscular septum. Posterior to the humeral shaft, the triceps brachii forms the dominant extensor mass, with the lateral head most apparent on the posterolateral arm and the long head coursing more medially toward the axilla. Anteriorly, the biceps brachii and brachialis contribute a subtler convexity, separated from the triceps by the lateral bicipital groove region and the overlying deep fascia. Surface form dominates.
