Description
Thirty-four weeks’ gestation is represented by a curled, flexed conceptus within the uterine cavity, with the head and trunk in a compact fetal posture and the upper and lower limbs drawn toward the anterior torso. Skin surface detail is visible over the scalp, face, and rounded extremities, while the umbilical cord courses from the fetal umbilicus to the placental disc. Placental tissue appears as a thick, textured mass apposed to the uterine wall, with the cord inserting on its fetal surface and the membranes implied at the placental margin. Close relationship between placenta, cord, and fetus is the point.
