Description
Centered on the oral region of an adult Black woman, the anterior facial surface anatomy is organized around the oral fissure, with the upper and lower lips forming the labial margins of the mouth and meeting laterally at the oral commissures. The vermilion border is emphasized against the surrounding perioral skin, and the midline philtrum of the upper lip sits inferior to the base of the nose, while the labiomental crease demarcates the lower lip from the soft tissue of the chin. Laterally, the buccal (cheek) region frames the mouth, blending superiorly toward the nasolabial folds and inferiorly toward the mandibular body.
