Captured in lateral profile, the auricle (pinna) is dominated by the helix, the curved cartilaginous rim that sweeps from the anterior root superiorly and then descends posteriorly toward the lobule. Medial to the helix, the antihelix rises as a parallel ridge that bifurcates into superior and inferior crura around the scaphoid fossa and triangular fossa, while the concha forms the deep central bowl leading into the external acoustic meatus. Anteriorly, the tragus projects posteriorly over the canal entrance and the antitragus sits inferior and posterior to it, framing the intertragic notch.
