Description
Rendered as a female head with upper cervical region and thoracic inlet, the model exposes major arterial and venous pathways in red and blue alongside peripheral nerves in yellow. Anteriorly, the common carotid arteries ascend in the neck and bifurcate at the level of the hyoid region into internal and external carotids, while the internal jugular veins course lateral to the carotids within the carotid sheath and drain inferiorly toward the brachiocephalic veins. Superiorly, vascular and neural structures converge around the orbit, with the globe, extraocular muscles, and neurovascular bundles arranged tightly at the orbital apex and along the medial orbital wall. Orientation is clear. Clinical teaching often hinges on understanding how nerves and vessels share corridors in the head and neck, because symptoms rarely respect system boundaries. The carotid bifurcation is a palpable landmark for carotid sinus reflex testing and a common site of atherosclerotic plaque addressed in carotid endarterectomy, where the relationship of the internal carotid artery to adjacent cranial nerves (hypoglossal, vagus) informs exposure and complication avoidance.
