Description
Superior margin of the cerebral hemisphere forms the sharp superomedial edge where the convex dorsolateral surface meets the medial surface along the longitudinal cerebral fissure. At this border, the cerebral cortex approaches the midline, and the paired hemispheres lie in close apposition separated by the falx cerebri in vivo. The contour is easiest to appreciate from a superior-oblique or medial-superior vantage, where the superior frontal gyrus and paracentral lobule approach the midline anteriorly and the superior parietal lobule and precuneus do the same posteriorly, creating a continuous arc from frontal pole toward the occipital region. Venous pathology also tracks here, since cortical veins course superiorly to drain toward the superior sagittal sinus, so thrombosis can present with parasagittal hemorrhagic infarction and seizures that map to the midline motor strip.
