Arising as a firm dural reflection, the tentorium cerebelli forms a sloping shelf between the occipital lobes of the cerebrum superiorly and the cerebellar hemispheres inferiorly, presented from a lateral perspective with a mid-sagittal section through the male brain. Medially, its free margin curves anteromedially toward the tentorial notch, framing the dorsal aspect of the midbrain as it transitions into the brainstem, while its attached border blends with the cranial dura along the posterior cranial fossa. Nearby midline landmarks in the cut plane include the corpus callosum arching above the diencephalon, the thalamus and hypothalamus around the third ventricle, and the pituitary gland seated inferiorly at the sella region.
