Description
Anterior thigh anatomy is emphasized on a dark-skinned adult female model in anatomical position, with the region from the inguinal crease to just proximal to the patella highlighted to isolate the femoral segment. Superficially, the quadriceps femoris mass dominates the anterior compartment, with rectus femoris centered and the vastus lateralis and vastus medialis flaring laterally and medially toward the knee. Medial to the quadriceps bulk, the gracilis and adductor longus contours can be inferred as they descend toward the medial femoral condyle, while a diagonal surface line consistent with sartorius would course from the anterior superior iliac spine toward the pes anserinus.
