Description
Oriented from an inferior perspective, the upper dental arch is rendered within a translucent maxilla, letting you track the crowns from the central incisors through the canines and premolars to the molars along the alveolar process. The right maxillary third molar is isolated in blue at the posterior end of the arch, positioned distal to the second molar and immediately anterior to the maxillary tuberosity. Surrounding osseous landmarks such as the zygomatic process of the maxilla and portions of the hard palate are visible, with the nasal cavity outlined superiorly through the transparent craniofacial framework. Focus on the third maxillary molar makes sense because its occlusal morphology and root form are where most procedural surprises occur, fused or tightly clustered roots can complicate extraction, and a posteriorly angulated crown can limit access and increase the chance of tuberosity fracture. Relationship to the maxillary sinus is the other teaching point, maxillary third molar roots may approximate the sinus floor, and postoperative oroantral communication remains a known risk in difficult removals.
