Description
Arising from the cartilage of the tragus, the tragicus muscle is highlighted on the anterior aspect of the auricle, just lateral to the external acoustic meatus and inferior to the root of the helix. Its short fibers run within the tragal eminence and sit superficial to the lateral wall of the cartilaginous ear canal, placing it in close continuity with the intrinsic auricular musculature. Anteriorly and superiorly, the surrounding temporal region provides context for nearby planes of the temporalis fascia and preauricular soft tissues. Small structure, tight neighborhood.
