Description
Cuboid tuberosity occupies the plantar-lateral aspect of the cuboid, forming a blunt bony prominence just inferior to the lateral surface in this lateral view. From this fixed perspective, the dorsolateral margin of the cuboid sits superiorly, while the plantar border thickens toward the tuberosity, and the posterior contour leads toward the calcaneal articular surface at the calcaneocuboid joint. The long plantar ligament attachment tracks along the plantar surface adjacent to the tuberosity, and the peroneus (fibularis) longus tendon groove is appreciated on the plantar-lateral region as it courses obliquely toward the medial foot. Palpation and radiographic orientation around the lateral midfoot often hinge on this prominence, since pain over the cuboid tuberosity can localize pathology at the calcaneocuboid joint, the peroneus longus tendon sheath, or ligamentous restraints such as the long plantar ligament.
