Description
Rendered in an X-ray style, the liver occupies the right upper quadrant beneath the right hemidiaphragm, extending medially across the epigastrium toward the left hypochondrium. The right lobe lies lateral to the falciform ligament, while the left lobe tapers anteromedially, with the falciform tracking to the anterior abdominal wall and marking the plane between the functional lobes. As the animation rotates in 3D, the visceral surface comes into view with the porta hepatis region and adjacent fissures, and the hepatic segments are indicated relative to the hepatic veins and inferior vena cava posteriorly. Orientation stays the focus.
