Description
Beginning with a male anterior neck in anatomical position, the animation situates the thyroid gland anterolateral to the upper trachea, its right and left lobes joined by an isthmus lying anterior to the second and third tracheal rings, inferior to the thyroid cartilage. As the x-ray sequence comes forward, a malignant thyroid nodule is revealed as a focal mass effect within the gland, altering the expected soft-tissue contour and relationship to the airway.
