Description

Along the way, the lesser curvature is kept medial and superior, continuous with the lesser omentum toward the liver, while the greater curvature arcs inferiorly and laterally, giving attachment to the greater omentum and facing the spleen. A brief rotational sequence clarifies anterior and posterior surfaces, with the first part of the duodenum emerging distally from the pyloric sphincter. Radiographic landmarks matter because the stomach’s contour changes with position, distension, and pathology, and barium studies still rely on consistent points like the fundic gas bubble, the incisura angularis along the lesser curvature, and the narrowing at the pyloric canal.
