Description
Superimposed on an X-ray style abdominal field, the paired adrenal (suprarenal) glands appear as small, triangular caps perched on the superomedial poles of the kidneys within the retroperitoneum. The right adrenal sits more cranial and closer to the inferior vena cava, while the left lies slightly more medial, adjacent to the aorta and posterior to the stomach and pancreas, with both contacting the diaphragmatic crura superiorly. Animated transitions separate cortex from medulla and then return to radiographic context, clarifying how these soft-tissue structures relate to bony landmarks such as the lower thoracic vertebral bodies and the 11th to 12th ribs. Orientation stays clinically legible. Cortex and medulla matter for different reasons.
