Shown in quarter section, the adult testis is opened to reveal the tunica vaginalis externally and the dense tunica albuginea deep to it, sending fibrous septa inward to partition lobules. Coiled seminiferous tubules occupy most of the parenchyma, converging posteromedially toward straight tubules that drain into the rete testis within the mediastinum testis. Efferent ductules emerge from this posterior aspect to join the epididymis, which lies along the posterolateral border of the gonad beneath the scrotal wall. Temperature-dependent anatomy.
