Description
Posteriorly, the lumbar vertebrae (L1 to L5) are emphasized in blue against the remainder of the vertebral column, with the cervical and thoracic spinous processes positioned superiorly and the sacrum and upper coccyx inferiorly. Each lumbar spinous process projects dorsally from the junction of the laminae, appearing broad and quadrangular, while the paired laminae converge toward the midline. Laterally, the transverse processes extend from the vertebral arch, and the superior and inferior articular processes align to form the lumbar zygapophysial (facet) joints, a key landmark set just lateral to the spinous process line. Orientation is straight and symmetric. Clear bony anatomy.
