Description
Viewed from superior, the L3 vertebra presents a broad, kidney shaped vertebral body anteriorly and a triangular vertebral foramen centered between the pedicles. Laterally, the transverse processes project from the junction of pedicle and lamina, while posterior elements converge toward the spinous process. Posterolateral to the foramen, the superior articular processes and their facets sit to either side of the midline, oriented to meet the inferior facets of L2.
