Description
Oriented to a superior view into the male larynx, the epiglottis sits anteriorly and frames the laryngeal inlet as it opens posteriorly toward the arytenoid cartilages. Curving from the lateral margins of the epiglottis to the apices of the arytenoids, the aryepiglottic folds form the rim of the aditus laryngis, with the piriform recesses implied lateral to this boundary. Deeper in the inlet, the paired vestibular folds lie superior to the true vocal folds, which border the rima glottidis and converge posteriorly at the vocal processes of the arytenoids.
