Description
Presented in anatomical position, a standing adult male skeleton is shown from the anterior aspect with both hands and wrists highlighted in blue to draw attention to the osseous anatomy of the upper extremity. Distally, the radius and ulna terminate at the carpus, where the scaphoid and lunate lie proximally on the radial side, with the triquetrum and pisiform more ulnar, and the trapezium, trapezoid, capitate, and hamate forming the distal carpal row. From the carpal arch, five metacarpals extend into the palm and articulate distally with the proximal, middle, and distal phalanges, with the thumb showing only proximal and distal phalanges.
