Description
Anteriorly, the male superficial muscular system is presented from scalp to toes, with paired muscles arranged symmetrically about the midline. Facial muscles of expression frame the orbit and mouth, while the sternocleidomastoid descends obliquely from the mastoid process to the manubrium and medial clavicle, lateral to the laryngeal region. Across the thorax, pectoralis major spans from sternum and clavicle toward the humerus, bordered superiorly by the deltoid and continuing distally into the biceps brachii and forearm flexor mass; inferior to the costal margin, rectus abdominis sits medial to the external oblique, then transitions to the anterior thigh dominated by rectus femoris and vastus medialis and lateralis, with tibialis anterior running along the anterolateral tibia toward the dorsum of the foot. Bony landmarks including clavicles, ribs, patellae, and phalanges remain visible beneath tendinous intervals. For teaching surface anatomy, this anterior full body view offers a clean map of muscle bellies, tendons, and palpable landmarks that clinicians use in exam rooms.
