Description
Centered over the superomedial orbit, the paired corrugator supercilii muscles sit deep to the frontalis and just superior to the medial end of the orbicularis oculi, hugging the frontal bone above the nasal bridge (glabella). Their fibers course superolaterally from the medial supraorbital margin into the skin of the medial eyebrow, placing them medial to the frontalis belly and superior to the upper eyelid portion of orbicularis oculi. Adjacent mimetic muscles, including zygomaticus major and minor, levator labii superioris, and orbicularis oris, remain visible in more inferior facial planes. Clear left to right symmetry helps orient midline landmarks. Corrugator supercilii anatomy matters because it is a common target in aesthetic and functional chemodenervation, and its depth and medial position determine both effectiveness and complications.
