Description
A late third-trimester fetus at approximately 35 weeks of gestation is shown in tight physiological flexion within the amniotic cavity, seen from a close lateral perspective. The head dominates the foreground, with fine scalp hair, a well-formed auricle, closed eyelids and rounded subcutaneous fat over the cheeks; the hand rests at the mouth with individually defined fingers, illustrating the hand-to-mouth behaviour typical of this stage. Above and behind, the flexed lower limb crosses the trunk so that the plantar surface and toes face the viewer, while the shoulder and arm complete the curled posture. The umbilical cord loops between the limbs, its coiled vessels visible as paired arteries and vein, and the vascular, softly lit uterine wall forms the surrounding boundary of the fluid-filled cavity.
