Lesser tubercle of the humerus sits on the anterior aspect of the proximal humerus, just inferior to the anatomical neck and medial to the greater tubercle. From an anterior three-quarter viewpoint, the prominence reads as a triangular bony eminence that forms the medial lip of the intertubercular sulcus (bicipital groove), with the groove separating it from the laterally positioned greater tubercle. Inferiorly, the lesser tubercle blends into the surgical neck region, while its summit provides a distinct insertion surface for the subscapularis tendon. This is a tight landmark.
