Description
Anterior full-body male musculature is presented in anatomical position, with the pectoralis major emphasized across the anterior thoracic wall. Its clavicular and sternocostal heads sweep inferolaterally from the medial clavicle, manubrium, and costal cartilages toward the proximal humerus, where the tendon courses to the lateral lip of the intertubercular sulcus. Medial to it lie the sternal attachments and linea alba over rectus abdominis, while laterally the anterior deltoid caps the shoulder and the pectoral fibers form the anterior axillary fold. For teaching shoulder mechanics, the fiber direction matters: the clavicular head contributes to shoulder flexion, and the sternocostal head drives adduction and internal rotation, a pattern that becomes obvious when you compare medial sternal origin to lateral humeral insertion. This view also supports discussion of surgical and sports medicine anatomy, where the pectoralis major tendon is inspected for tears near the humeral insertion after eccentric loading (bench press injuries) and where the muscle defines a landmark for deltopectoral approaches and axillary dissection planning.
