Medial nucleus of the trapezoid body (MNTB) occupies the ventral portion of the pontine tegmentum, positioned just dorsal to the basilar part of the pons and close to the midline, where decussating auditory fibers of the trapezoid body traverse the brainstem. Neuronal cell groups are presented as a compact, elongated cluster in the anteroposterior depth of the lower pons, with the surrounding pontine tegmentum providing clear separation from adjacent longitudinal tracts.
