Description
Centered at the medial eyebrow, the depressor supercilii appears as a small, vertically oriented slip just deep to the skin, arising near the nasal process of the frontal bone and blending with the orbicularis oculi and the medial brow soft tissues at the glabella. Medial to lateral, it sits adjacent to the corrugator supercilii fibers that run obliquely toward the superciliary arch, while the frontalis lies superiorly as the main elevator of the brow. Beneath the muscular layer, the anterior skull provides fixed landmarks: frontal bone and supraorbital margins superiorly, paired nasal bones and maxilla centrally, and the mandible inferiorly, with the orbits framing the periorbital musculature. Functionally, depressor supercilii contributes to brow depression and medial brow contour, opposing frontalis and shaping frown expression; its interplay with corrugator supercilii and procerus explains why glabellar lines rarely respond to a single injection point.
