Description
Facial motor nucleus (nucleus nervi facialis) occupies the dorsal tegmentum of the caudal pons in this posterior brainstem view, positioned deep to the floor of the fourth ventricle rather than on the external surface. Medial to it, the abducens nucleus lies near the midline, and the facial nerve fibers course dorsomedially around it as the internal genu, creating the facial colliculus along the rhomboid fossa.
