Description
Dorsal nucleus of the lateral lemniscus is highlighted within the rostral pons, positioned dorsolateral to the pontine base and adjacent to the ascending fibers of the lateral lemniscus as they course superiorly toward the inferior colliculus. From an anterior perspective, the ventral contour of the brainstem forms the foreground while the auditory tract is traced deeper in the tegmentum, allowing the nucleus to be appreciated as a rounded cellular mass rather than as an indistinct region. Superior and inferior brainstem landmarks frame the location, placing the structure between the caudal midbrain and the upper pontine level and lateral to the midline raphe. Auditory processing in the brainstem depends on this relay, which participates in temporal features of sound and binaural integration before signals reach the midbrain.
