Description

Superior to it, the posterior pelvis frames the muscle’s origin, while the proximal femur and greater trochanter sit deep and lateral, marking the transition from pelvic girdle to thigh. The posterior hip joint lies anterior and deep to the muscle mass, with the lower lumbar vertebrae and inferior ribs included as superior landmarks for trunk orientation.
