Description
Transparent rendering of the male cervical vertebral column frames the cervical spinal cord (myelon) within the vertebral canal, with individual vertebrae aligned superior to inferior from the atlas and axis toward the lower cervical segments. Red arterial channels track anterolateral to the vertebrae and along the transverse processes, consistent with the course of the vertebral arteries before they enter the cranial cavity, while blue venous pathways form a plexiform network around the column that corresponds to the vertebral venous plexuses. The cord lies posterior to the vertebral bodies and intervertebral discs, centered within the canal and flanked laterally by the pedicles and articular pillars. Clean spatial relationships. For teaching and clinical planning, this neck-focused perspective clarifies why vascular injury and neurologic compromise can coexist in cervical trauma: a fracture-dislocation or rotational injury may narrow the canal and threaten the spinal cord while also compromising vertebral artery flow in the transverse foramina.
