Description
Posteriorly through a transparent male trunk, the vertebral column frames a midline spinal cord, with the pia mater invested by a fine pial venous plexus along the dorsal surface. Slender radicular veins course laterally toward the intervertebral foramina, while longitudinal channels converge medially into the posterior spinal vein running in the posterior median sulcus region. Segmental communications appear to track alongside the nerve root sleeves, linking the intradural pial network to more lateral venous pathways. Orientation matters here because dorsal spinal cord venous drainage is a common blind spot in teaching, yet it becomes clinically concrete in spinal dural arteriovenous fistula, where arterialized flow elevates venous pressure and produces congestive myelopathy.
