Description
Presented in anatomical position from an anterior perspective, the adult female skeleton is visible through semi-transparent soft tissues from the calvaria to the phalanges. Superiorly, the cranial vault and facial skeleton frame the orbits, nasal aperture, and mandible, while inferior to the clavicles the sternum lies on the midline with paired ribs sweeping laterally to form the thoracic cage. The vertebral column descends centrally behind the thorax and abdomen to the pelvis, where the iliac crests sit lateral to the sacrum; the appendicular skeleton extends distally through the humerus, radius and ulna to the metacarpals and phalanges, and through the femur, tibia and fibula to the tarsals, metatarsals, and toes. Symmetry reads clearly. Sex-specific osteology benefits from a full-length frontal rendering because pelvic breadth, subpubic angle, and the overall relationship of the pelvic inlet to the femora can be compared at a glance with the thoracic cage and shoulder girdle. For teaching alignment, the anterior view helps communicate common coronal-plane deviations such as genu valgum or varum and apparent leg-length asymmetry, and it also supports discussions of osteoporotic fracture patterns that cluster at the distal radius, vertebral bodies, and proximal femur in adult women. Clear bony landmarks make surface anatomy easier to map.
