Description
Centered in the mid thoracic column, the tenth thoracic vertebra (T10) is highlighted in posterior view, with the spinous process projecting posteriorly and the laminae converging toward the midline. Lateral to the vertebral arch, the transverse processes extend bilaterally, and the superior and inferior articular processes frame the zygapophysial (facet) joints. At this level the inferior articular facets begin to reorient toward the more sagittal lumbar pattern, an observable transition when comparing T9 through T12 in the same posterior alignment. Adjacent thoracic, lumbar, and sacral segments remain visible as stacked vertebrae above and below. Facet orientation at T10 is not an academic detail, it shapes regional biomechanics and the way pain patterns can behave across the thoracolumbar junction.
