Uterine Changes Caused by Endometriosis

Description

Profile anatomy of the uterus is presented with the fundus superior, the cervix inferior, and the endometrial cavity centered within the myometrium. Along the outer serosal contour, endometriosis implants and fibrotic plaques track over the anterior and posterior uterine surfaces, with tethering that distorts the normally smooth uterine outline. Deep infiltrating lesions appear as nodules extending from the serosa into the outer myometrium, while the endometrium itself is shown as a distinct mucosal lining that can appear irregular where chronic inflammation and scarring have altered the normal interface.
