Description
Centered in the anterior neck, the thyroid gland appears as paired right and left lobes joined by an isthmus that crosses the upper tracheal rings just inferior to the cricoid cartilage. Each lobe tapers superiorly toward the thyroid cartilage and descends inferiorly toward the thoracic inlet, with the medial surface hugging the larynx and trachea while the lateral border approaches the carotid sheath. The animation cycles between a 3D anatomical model and an x-ray style radiographic silhouette, rotating slightly to clarify how the bilateral lobe contour reads on projection. A small pyramidal extension may be suggested along the superior margin of the isthmus. Clear boundaries.
