Centered in the anterior neck, the thyroid gland appears as paired right and left lobes joined across the midline by the isthmus, draped over the anterolateral surface of the upper trachea just inferior to the laryngeal cartilages. A smooth 3D sequence isolates each lobe in turn, clarifying their medial relationship to the trachea and cricoid region and their lateral contour beneath the infrahyoid (strap) musculature.
